City Council meeting of April 17, 2000 <br />Page 4 <br />PARKS MAP <br />The Council revisited the Parks Commission's request for a map showing all bike paths, sidewalks, <br />and park property, and how they are interconnected. Engineer Mitchell suggested a meeting with <br />Mike Ericson, Chris Petree, and Joe McMahon regarding City maps. He will be providing a sample <br />for Council review at their meeting of May 15, 2000. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS <br />In accordance with the City's recently revised comprehensive land use regulations, there are two <br />vacancies for alternate members of the City's Planning Commission. The Council considered letters <br />provided by David Buller and Patrick Rooney requesting appointment on the Planning Commission. <br />Barnes made motion, Leroux seconded, that the Council authorize staff to send a letter to Messrs. <br />Buller and Rooney advising them of the provision for alternate PC members, and whether they <br />would be interested in serving in this capacity. <br />Barnes made motion, Leroux seconded, advising Messrs. Buller and Rooney that they have been <br />appointed to serve as alternates on the City's Planning Commission, requesting their response as to <br />their interest in serving in this capacity. <br />AMENDMENT: All aye. Motion Carried. <br />ORIGINAL MOTION: All aye. Motion Carried. <br />THANKSGIVING LUTHERAN CHURCH REQUEST <br />The Council considered a letter from TLC requesting a 3 -year extension of their contract to use the <br />Rice Lake Park Building for church services. Gary Meyer, representing the church, stated that they <br />would like to use the building following the expiration of the current Lease Agreement on August <br />31, 2001. Because the City would be committing the building for another five years (approximate), <br />the Council wished to consider the long-term use of the building. Council member Petryk stated that <br />the City might be able to utilize the building in light of the "growing pains" being experienced by the <br />City. Mr. Meyer will be working with the Parks Commission in an effort to balance use, and costs <br />shared, of the facility. No formal action was taken on the request at this time. <br />TEST WELL BID AWARD <br />The City accepted bids at 11:00 am, April 17, 2000, for the construction of a test well. The City <br />Engineer provided a bid tabulation, as well as his recommendation to award a contract. E. H. <br />Renner bid the project at $29,930; Mark J. Traut, Inc., was lower bidder at $22,900. <br />Leroux made motion, Haas seconded, to accept the Engineer's recommendation and award the <br />project to the low bidder, Mark J. Traut Wells, Inc., in the amount of $22,900. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
