City Council meeting of May 1, 2000
Page 2
Resolution 2000-10 shall include four (4) concerns raised by the City Engineer identified in his
memo dated April 27, 2000.
YEAR 2000 MOWING CONTRACT (CITY PARK)
Public Works Superintendent, Chris Petree, spoke with Mr. Floyd Laska, and he has agreed to
provide lawn mowing services for the city in 2000 at a rate of $25/hour for mowing and
$12.50/hour for weed whipping. Mr. Laska informed Chris that this would be his last year of
providing this service for the City. He stated he couldn't get started this year until his grandson
gets done with school because he does not want to do it alone.
Haas made motion, Leroux seconded, that the City Council approve the agreement with Floyd
Laska for mowing services for 2000 at a rate of $25/hour for mowing, and $I 2.50/hour for weed
whipping, and plan for his departure in budgeting for 2001.
All aye. Motion Carried.
YEAR 2000 MOWING CONTRACT (FENWAY BLVD.)
Leroux made motion, Haas seconded, to award the contract for mowing of Fenway Blvd., to
Dynamic Outdoor Services, at a rate of $90.00/hr.
All aye. Motion Carried.
CLEANING SERVICES FOR FILE HALL
A request for proposals (RFP) for cleaning the fire hall was prepared by the city administrator, and
two proposals were received. Ruth Hodgson currently cleans the city hall building, and her
proposal was for two sessions a week, for a total of five hours a week. This totals $75 per week at
her $15/hour rate. A proposal was also received from the Fireflies who propose to do the work
once a week for a total of $60 per week. Their money would be used for activities within their
group. Staff recommended that the City Council select the RFP which provides the best value and
best service for the City. Council member felt uncomfortable employing relatives of the FD, and
that the City should hire a "disinterested" party to perform the work.
Stoltzman made motion, Petryk seconded, to contract with Ruth Hodgson to clean the Hugo Fire
Department for $15.00/hr.
VOTING AYE: Barnes, Petryk, Stoltzman
VOTING NAY: Haas, Leroux
Motion Carried.
PUBLIC WORKS TRUCK
The City's Chevrolet 5-10 pickup truck is scheduled for replacement in 2000. Included in the
2000 City Budget was $13,000. Public Works Superintendent, Chris Petree reviewed with me
