City Council meeting of June 19, 2000 <br />Page 6 <br />double standard for religious versus secular use in virtually every area of local government <br />regulation. The City of Hugo is cited in this article since the City upheld its ordinance prohibiting <br />slaughterhouse operations in the City. The LMC encourages phone calls, faxes, and/or letters from <br />locally affected cities to Senators Rod Grams and Paul Wellston, as well as to Senator Trent Lott <br />voicing strong opposition to S.F. 2081. <br />Petryk made motion, Leroux seconded, authorizing the City Administrator to send a letter signed <br />by himself, the Mayor, and the Council, voicing City opposition to S.F. 2081. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />WATER TOWER SITE SELECTION <br />The City Engineer discussed site locations for a new water storage facility. Based on water system <br />engineering standards, the City Engineer identified that the new water tower be located somewhere <br />within Section 17 or 18 to serve the expanding needs of the City. The City Engineer requested <br />assistance from the Council to determine two or three sites for further evaluation. <br />Leroux made motion, Barnes seconded, authorizing SEH to proceed with the location of a new <br />water tower in the City. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT (STREET SIGNAL AT TH61 AND 120TH STREET) <br />The MnDOT prepared a proposed Agreement with the City of Hugo for the City's share of cost of <br />the street signal to be located at Th61 and 12& Street. The Council suggested that the Parks <br />Commission look into construction of a City sign/monument at the northeast corner of this <br />intersection at the time of signal installation. <br />Stoltzman made motion, Barnes seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2000-18, A RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING CITY PARTICIPATION IN THE INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT <br />THE INTERSECTION OF TH61 AND CRJ (120TH STREET). <br />VOTING AYE: Barnes, Leroux, Petryk, Stoltzman <br />Motion Carried. <br />COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT (ROAD WORK AT TH61 AND 120TH STREET) <br />The MnDOT prepared a proposed Agreement for the roadwork necessary for the street signal light <br />improvement at TH61 and 120th Street. <br />Barnes made motion, Petryk seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 2000-19, A RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH MN/DOT TO <br />PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT OF THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE ROADWAY/R.AILROAD <br />CROSSING AT TH61 AND CRJ (120TH STREET). <br />
