City Council meeting of June 28, 1999 Page 2 Leroux made motion, Stoltzman seconded, that the City proceed with Chapter 429 requirements for making improvements to Greene Avenue. VOTING AYE: Leroux, Stoltzman VOTING NAY: Barnes, Haas, Petryk Motion Failed. Because residents along Greene Avenue were unsure of particulars relative to this project: Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to table this matter to allow the City Engineer to meet with Greene Avenue*residents to explain the proposed project. All aye. Motion Carried. RAILROAD CROSSING EASEMENT The Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad requested that the City obtain formal easements for the 130th Street and 140th Street crossings of their tracks. They have requested that the City pay $10,000 for these easements that staff feels is excessive. Staff recommended a counter offer of between $3,000 and $4,000 for the easements. Stoltzman made motion, Haas seconded, directing the City Engineer negotiate a lower cost with the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad to obtain formal easements for the 130th Street and 140th Street crossings of their tracks. All aye. Motion Carried. WATER SYSTEM REPORT The Council received a report from the City Engineer on needed improvements to the City's water system. Because of the time needed to discuss this matter, the Council opted for a workshop on June 30, 1999, at 7:00 pm. RECOMMENDATION FOR FULL-TII" MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR Stoltzman made motion, Petryk seconded, to accept the recommendation of the Interview Committee and offer the full-time maintenance supervisor position to Christopher Petree at a pay of $17.25/hr. All aye. Motion Carried. RECOMMENDATION FOR PART-TIME MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEES Leroux made motion, Stoltzman seconded, to accept the recommendation of the City Administrator and hire Sandra Mahoney and Valerie Maddock as part-time maintenance employees at $9.00/hr. All aye. Motion Carried.
