City Council meeting of April 6, 1998 <br />Page 3 <br />Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 1998-11, A <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CITY OF HUGO'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN BY <br />CLARIFYING THE IMPLEMENTATION AND TMNG OF PROPOSED ZONING <br />CHANGES. <br />VOTING AYE: Arcand, Goiffon, Leroux, Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />FIRE CHIEF APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDATION <br />The Fire Chief Interview Committee, established by the City Council, recommended that <br />Joseph McMahon be appointed Hugo Fire Chief upon the retirement of Jim Wisner on <br />June 1, 1998. Mr. McMahon has 15 years of experience on the Department, including <br />service as deputy chief and acting chief. He is certified as a Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, <br />First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, has hazardous materials training, and <br />attended leadership training at the State Fire School. <br />Leroux made motion, Goiffon seconded, that the City of Hugo appoint Joseph McMahon <br />as the Hugo Fire Chief upon the retirement of the Tim Wisner on June 1, 1998. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />Miron made motion, Leroux seconded, directing staff to send a letter to all applicants <br />thanking them for their interest in the Fire Chief s position. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />AUTOMOBILE RECYCLING LICENSE UPDATES <br />Of the existing three automobile recycling yards in the City, ARK is currently under Court <br />Order to come into compliance with City ordinances prior to conducting any more <br />business. Hugo Auto has recently applied for a renewal of their license, and is scheduled <br />for site inspection to determine compliance with City ordinances within the next week. <br />The third facility, owned by David Schumann at 7630 137th Street, has applied for <br />renewal of his license. The City conducted a site inspection of the property on March 4, <br />1998, at which time a number of deficiencies with the SUP and City ordinances were <br />identified. The City Administrator stated that these items will be before the Council at <br />their meeting of April 20, 1998. <br />SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT (FENWAY BLVD.) <br />At the City Council meeting of March 16, 1998, the Council discussed the establishment <br />of a special service district for the industrial property along Fenway Boulevard as a means <br />of generating revenues for the ongoing maintenance of the special street lighting and <br />
