City Council meeting of May 18, 1998 <br />Page 5 <br />Leroux made motion, Goiffon seconded, to adopt the public improvement policy, as <br />drafted by City staff, to use connection charges to fund for oversizing and repairs of <br />sewer and water infrastructure. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />JUNKYARD ORDINANCE REVISIONS <br />At the Council meeting of April 20, 1998, the Council reviewed the proposed amendment <br />to the City's Auto Recycling Ordinance amending the terms and conditions for issuing <br />such licenses in the community. The Council tabled action until the Council meeting of <br />May 4th, and requested copies of the ordinance be provided to each Council member. <br />Copies were provided in the May 4th Council packets. <br />Miron made motion, Goiffon seconded, to table this matter to allow time for the Council <br />to incorporate changes in the draft ordinance. Revised draft to be reviewed at a later date. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF APPOINTMENTS <br />At the City Council meeting of May 4, 1998, the Council received a recommendation from <br />Joe McMahon, the City's incoming Fire Chief, for the appointment of the 1 st and 2nd <br />Assistant Chiefs, to be effective June 1, 1998. The Council asked the City Attorney <br />review the request, and advise the Council on the legality of making mid -year <br />appointments to these positions. The City Attorney stated that changes are made at the <br />discretion of the City Council. <br />Leroux made motion, Arcand seconded, to table to allow the Mayor time to discuss this <br />matter with Joe McMahon. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />FOREST LAKE YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU AGREEMENT <br />The City received a copy of an Agreement between the City and the FL Youth Service <br />Bureau, for youth counseling intervention services to be provided during the calendar year <br />1998. The City has, for a number of years, provided a donation to them to support its <br />activities with no written agreement. <br />Miron made motion, Goiffon seconded, directing staff to send a letter to the FL Youth <br />Service Bureau stating that the City has always made an annual contribution to the <br />Bureau, and is not interested in entering into a contract. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
