City Council meeting of July b, 1992 <br />Page <br />Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, that. the City of Hugo wi'l1 participate <br />in the maintenance of Elmcrest Avenue, north of 1'70th Street to <br />approximately 180th Street, with the City of Lino Lakes. Hugo's cost will <br />be approximately $6,200.00. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REQUEST TO LOWER SPEED LIMIT' ON EUROPA AVENUE. <br />The City has received a request from the Oak:shore Park Homeowner's Assn to <br />reduce the speed limit on Europa Avenue to 30 mph. As speed limits in the <br />State of Minnesota are controlled by the Commissioner of 'Transportation, <br />the proper coUrse of action for the Council to initiate such a speed <br />change would be to request, by resolution, that the DOT' review the speed <br />limit on Europa Avenue. <br />Miron made motion, Leroux: seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 1992-15, <br />RESOLUTION REVIEWING SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN ROADS (EUROPA AVENUE AND <br />GOODVIEW AVENUE) IN THE CITY OF HUGO. <br />VOTING AYE: Barnes, Brunotte, Lerou;:, Miron, Stoltzman <br />Motion Carried. <br />VARIANCE REQUEST FOR OVERSIZE GARAGE <br />Arnie Triemert has requested a variance to construct an over size garage <br />at 15220 Everton Avenue North, in the City of HLAQO. 'The garage would be <br />943 square feet. Based on past practice in granting such variances. the <br />City's building inspector recommends approval. <br />Leroux: made motion, Miron seconded, to approve the 'variance request of <br />Arnie Triemert to construct a 943 square foot attached garage on his <br />property located at 15220 Everton Avenue North. The proposed garage is to <br />be used for residential purposes only. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY GARAGE SIZE STANDARDS <br />The Council directed staff to review the limitations placed on garage <br />construction in the City's zoning ordinance, due to the larq.3e number of <br />variances being requested for over size garages. Based on review of both <br />the zoning ordinance, and the current building practices within the City, <br />staff has made recommendations for certain changes t0 the Z on.ina <br />ordinance. <br />Miron made motion. Stoltzman seconded. that. the City staff forward the <br />report on City garaoe-size standards to the Planninn Con-im.i.ssion d.irectina <br />them to review the reasonableness and desi.reabi.lity of ttie r)roposed <br />changes, and hold the necessary public: hearings to the. ordinanc? <br />amended. <br />All aye.
