Irish Avenue Mission Statement
October 5, 2011
C3UR PLAN / OUR MISSION % OUR PASSION / OUR DREAM
As we have stated on many occasions, our dream for years has been to build a cross country running and ski course that
can become a home for not only the University of Minnesota but also for high schools and other colleges in the state of
Minnesota.
WHAT WILL THIS COURSE MEAN FOR THE CITY OF HUGO
It is estimated that every person that uses the course will bring in approximately $50 - $100 during each day's use. This
can mean significant extra income for the economy of Hugo. It should also be noted that once more restaurants and
hotels are built in the area, the amount of income generated per individual will increase significantly.
Besides the economic impact this project will generate it will also create an even larger contribution to the PRIDE OF
HUGO and the "CAN DO ATTITUDE" that is so prevalent in this community.
TOM riew NG TERM GOALS
First of all it must be understood that we are taking on this project in a purely voluntary role. We do not expect any
money from this. We do not expect the City of Hugo to pay for any of the initial building or funding of this cross country
facility. It should also be noted that this course has been designed to insure that it will not interfere with any future
development that might be planned for this piece of property. These plans could include, but not limited to,
soccer/lacrosse fields, softball and baseball diamonds or playgrounds.
Attached is a rough map of possible future facilities such as parking lots, pinwheel ball fields and other buildings. We
have also measured the land around the course itself and those measurements are included in this rough drawing.
YEAR ONE GOALS - 2011-2012
1. Design and lay out a cross country running and ski trail.
2. Get approval from the Hugo City Council and Recreation Commission to proceed ahead with the preparations of
the course.
3. Have the trails prepared and seeded by Frattalone Company. Begin mowing and grooming the trails as they
mature.
4. Begin the fundraising process to insure the initial investment of $30,000 will be paid off by 2015.
5. Mow an area near the very southeast corner of the land (near the small parking area on Irish Ave). This area will
be used to park cars and vans for the smaller high school and college races.
6. Prepare a plan of where to park buses that bring athletes for their meets. Also prepare a plan of how to shuttle
spectators from the Hugo Fairgrounds.
