CITY OF HANOVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MINUTES required five public hearings including hearings for tax abatement, a Comprehensive Plan amendment, rezoning, site plan approval and a variance from landscaping requirements. Sleypen commented on the high quality of the Treehouse Childcare development. Urbanski inquired as to whether or not the EDA should purchase property, construct a building and lease to tenants at lower than market rates. Buchholtz stated that if the River District development proposed by Paumen Development were successful that would likely encourage additional commercial development. Bartels noted that the strength of Hanover is the River District which should be the niche the commercial sector is built around. Bartels requested the EDA prioritize its vision and goals into workable increments. Urbanski agreed noting that prior to the September meeting each member of the EDA should think about what single priority the EDA should focus on whether that is an industrial park, redevelopment in the downtown, development of the Paumen parcel in Hennepin County or something else. Peterson added that Board Members should consider both short and long- term priorities. Haugen requested the City Administrator and MDG, Inc. perform the same exercise. Business Development Marketing Materials Business Peterson introduced the topic and suggested the item be tabled until the Development EDA further defined its priorities. Board Members concurred. Marketing Materials Reports. 1. Monthly Project Report. Strack referenced the monthly project report Reports included in EDA packets. 2. EDA Board Member Reports: a. Urbanski suggested that for the December EDA meeting the EDA invite all business owners in Hanover to City Hall for a breakfast to thank business owners for their presence in Hanover. No formal presentation would be made. b. Sleypen suggested the EDA require business representatives bring "Toys for Tots" donations to the December breakfast. c. Bartels stated that the EDA members should further consider a specific vision for the Downtown and that the EDA should visit successful projects in other towns. Bartels also suggested the EDA members walk around the Downtown during a future meeting. d. Haugen noted that the City Council had requested the EDA conduct a performance evaluation for MDG similar to that requested for other consultants.
