Sleypen commented on the high <br /> quality of the Treehouse Childcare development. <br /> Urbanski inquired as to whether or not the EDA should purchase property, <br /> construct a building and lease to tenants at lower than market rates. <br /> Buchholtz stated that if the River District development proposed by Paumen <br /> Development were successful that would likely encourage additional <br /> commercial development. <br /> Bartels noted that the strength of Hanover is the River District which should <br /> be the niche the commercial sector is built around. Bartels requested the <br /> EDA prioritize its vision and goals into workable increments. <br /> Urbanski agreed noting that prior to the September meeting each member of <br /> the EDA should think about what single priority the EDA should focus on <br /> whether that is an industrial park, redevelopment in the downtown, <br /> development of the Paumen parcel in Hennepin County or something else. <br /> Peterson added that Board Members should consider both short and long- <br /> term priorities. Haugen requested the City Administrator and MDG, Inc. <br /> perform the same exercise. <br /> Business Development Marketing Materials Business <br /> Peterson introduced the topic and suggested the item be tabled until the Development <br /> EDA further defined its priorities. Board Members concurred. Marketing Materials <br /> Reports. <br /> 1. Monthly Project Report. Strack referenced the monthly project report Reports <br /> included in EDA packets. <br /> 2. EDA Board Member Reports: <br /> a. Urbanski suggested that for the December EDA meeting the EDA <br /> invite all business owners in Hanover to City Hall for a breakfast to <br /> thank business owners for their presence in Hanover. No formal <br /> presentation would be made. <br /> b. Sleypen suggested the EDA require business representatives bring <br /> "Toys for Tots" donations to the December breakfast. <br /> c. Bartels stated that the EDA members should further consider a specific <br /> vision for the Downtown and that the EDA should visit successful <br /> projects in other towns. Bartels also suggested the EDA members walk <br /> around the Downtown during a future meeting. <br /> d. Haugen noted that the City Council had requested the EDA conduct a <br /> performance evaluation for MDG similar to that requested for other <br /> consultants.
