Adopt a Family: This past December we "adopted" two local families to help brighten up their
holidays. Employee donations were matched by our credit union for a total of$700. This was
used to purchase items on the families' "wish lists." In addition, some employees also donated
new toys and clothes. One family consisted of a mother with two daughters. The other family
consisted of a mother, father, and two sons. Several employees volunteered to shop for gifts for
both families, wrap and deliver them to the agency that coordinated the program.
Casual for a Cause: The credit union continues to incorporate "Casual for a Cause" day. By
contributing a minimum of$2.00 towards a specified cause, employees are given the
opportunity to wear casual clothing every other Friday. Employees are also encouraged to
submit names of charities important to them. Signs and donation boxes are placed in the
lobbies of all three offices to encourage members to contribute as well.
2006 Contributions to date total $2694.57 to the following causes:
➢ Minnesota Autism Center
➢ Special Olympics
➢ Gerry's House of Hope
➢ Habitat for Humanity
➢ Camp Odayin
➢ Meals on Wheels Local Centers
➢ 3-day Breast Cancer Walk
➢ Second Harvest Heartland
➢ Tubman Family Alliance
Still to come in 2006:
➢ Animal Arc
➢ Second Chance for Life Foundation
➢ Juvenile Diabetes
➢ MN Credit Union Network
➢ Little Red Stocking
➢ Lupus Foundation of Minnesota
School Involvement: 4th graders from Skyview Elementary School are given the opportunity to
be a "Banker for a Day". Refreshments are set out for all members and the branch is
decorated with a Mexican flavor. Also, Cinco-de-Mayo buttons are sold at the branch for the
local Cinco-de-Mayo celebration and the proceeds given back to community.
Women's Shelter & Habitat for Humanity: Employees donated 30 backpacks filled with
school supplies to three local homeless or women's shelters. The backpacks were filled with all
the school supplies students needed for back to school. There were school supplies remaining
after filling the backpacks, which were donated to the schools that served the homeless or
women's shelters.
5
