He stated that we also need to look at the <br /> portion of the policy that sets what we want to spend money on like environmental <br /> remediation, land acquisition and demolition of buildings. <br /> Granger stated that we need to take a close look at the qualifications on the application to <br /> make sure we are not limit people from doing a good project. <br /> Bever stated that he likes the job creation portion of the policy <br /> Arcand asked if the DNR has policies that the City has to follow for the lake and wetland <br /> setbacks. <br /> Thistle asked if a park was still the idea for a portion of the property along Egg Lake. He <br /> stated he liked the idea of lake view from Highway 61. CD Director stated that the park <br /> idea was favored by the citizens at the open house and that we must be aware of that. <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE FOR 2008 <br /> CD Director stated that in January staff would like to get the City Council,Planning <br /> Commission, EDA, and Parks Commission together for a kick off meeting to talk about <br /> the comprehensive plan update process. This joint meeting will go over what the <br /> comprehensive plan process will be and to figure out how much public involvement there <br /> will be. <br /> The EDA will be working on issues such as a location of a possible new industrial park, <br /> what businesses the City needs, and the land use map. <br /> Arcand asked if we will expand the MUSA boundary. CD Director stated that we may <br /> not need a MUSA any more but if we do not have one we will have to create a growth <br /> policy for the City. <br /> DISCUSSION ON WASHINGTON COUNTY AND ITS COMMUNITIES <br /> COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY <br /> Washington County has provided the City with a draft proposal for a comprehensive <br /> economic development strategy for the County and its communities.The proposal is <br /> suggesting that there be a partnership with the County and its cities to work together on <br /> appropriate economic growth within the County. There was a meeting on November 30, <br /> 2006 to talk about the economic development strategy between Washington County and <br /> its communities. Washington County would like to set up a work group for this that <br /> includes a City designee that will represent the City. <br /> City Administrator updated the EDA on the Washington County economic development <br /> strategy meeting. The County would like to have a city representative to be at the <br /> workshops to establish the strategy. <br />
