Discussion Topics For the Future
Land Use Plan
There are many topics to start thinking about when it comes to
planning for the future land use plan for the City. Below are some
ideas for discussion at the June workshop for the land use portion
of the Comprehensive Plan. The City will be soliciting ideas from
property owners and residents who would like to see specific land
uses planned at various locations in the City. On the City's website
you can find information on each section of the Comprehensive
Plan. At the June workshop we will be concentrating on land use.
At this workshop it is your opportunity to voice your ideas for the
future land use plan for Hugo.
Commercial Development: Strengthening the existing busi-
nesses and attracting new businesses to the downtown. Managing
and locating commercial development in key locations and at a
proper scale in the remainder of the City. Should the City plan for
larger scale, more regional commercial development, or smaller
neighborhood oriented retail shops?
Industrial Development: Establishment of a new business park
for office and industrial space, possibly along County Road 8, or in
northern Hugo. Possible establishment of a new industrial area
that will serve as an incubator, allowing small businesses to get
established and grow.
Residential Development: Planning for a variety of housing
types in proper locations. Do you have any comments on what has
been completed so far in the City?
Northern Hugo: Planning for a northern gateway. Establishing
land uses for the entrance to the City along Highway 61 near our
northern border. The City will also be evaluating land uses along
County Road 4.
Eastern Hugo: The City will be evaluating its current policy for
rural development including cluster housing, and will explore al-
ternate methods of rural planning that will encourage permanent
protection of natural resources.
Visit the City Website!
On the City's website there is a lot of information on the 2008
Comprehensive Plan in regards to what the comprehensive plan
is, what items are included in the Plan, and the process the City
goes through to complete the Plan. The land use map is also avail-
able on the City website for your review. Please visit the website
as a way to stay informed with the Comprehensive Plan process.
--------------------
Other topics that
will be discussed ;
! with the 2008
Comprehensive
Plan: ;
HOUSING
!PARKS '
!
