fresh start thanks to your generosity. You made Christmas stress free and my
family a lot happier.
e. Provided funds for a soldier in the 34th MP Company that was having health
problems.
f. Provided funds and gift card for MNARNG family with medical issues.
3. Care Packages. On December 14th volunteers, many new folks, packed and
shipped 800 pounds of wish list items to soldiers deployed with HSC and A
Company of the 34th Infantry Division; Charlie Company of the 2-211 Medivac
Unit; Army Medivac Unit; and several individual soldiers.
The Oneka Elementary school students, led again this year by their teacher,
Janet Dickenson, made 70 warm, snuggly fleece blankets and donated them to
our Hugo YRN to send to deployed soldiers.
Our care package events have a new twist thanks to the folks at ShopThrifty.
Operated by a Forest Lake family who has taken on a Guardian Angel role with
our network their computer based system makes the package mailing labels
and custom forms and reduces our postage costs. Their daughter was so
motivated by our packing events that she and a classmate at Forest Lake High
School organized a school wide coffee/hot chocolate drive. They collected a
huge amount of coffee/hot chocolate and donations to pay for the postage.
The blankets, coffee, and hot chocolate went out on 12/27/18 in 33 boxes
weighing 770 pounds. That brings our 2018 total to 8,700 pounds and since
2016 we have shipped almost 42,000 pounds of wish list items.
4.
