<br />G.5 Approve Promotion of David Jensen to Deputy Chief on the Hugo Fire Department <br /> <br />Interviews were held on February 4, 2021, for a new Deputy Chief. The position became vacant <br />when former Deputy Chief Jim Compton, Jr. was promoted to the Fire Chief position. Staff <br />recommends Council approve the promotion of David Jensen to Deputy Chief on the Hugo Fire <br />Department effective March 1, 2021. <br /> <br />G.6 Approve Resolutions Approving the Preliminary Plat, Planned Unit Development, and <br />Comprehensive Plan Amendment for the Meadows at Hugo Development <br /> <br />Golden Valley Land Company has applied for a preliminary plat, planned unit development, and <br />comprehensive plan amendment for a residential development to be known as “The Meadows at <br />Hugo.” The proposed site is 32.93 acres and is located north of 159th Street North and west of <br />Highway 61. The preliminary plat proposes a total of 87 single family lots and six outlots. At <br />their February 11, 2021 meeting, the Hugo Planning Commission held a public hearing and <br />considered the request. There were two residents who spoke during the meeting as well as a few <br />who provided written comments prior to the meeting. The comments generally included <br />concerns on the increased traffic from the proposal and the reduced setback requirements. The <br />Planning Commission generally likes the layout and unanimously found that the applicants meet <br />all requirements necessary for approval. The Planning Commission recommend that the City <br />Council approve the preliminary plat, planned unit development, and comprehensive plan <br />amendment applications for the residential development to be known as the Meadows at Hugo. <br /> <br />G.7 Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from the Hugo American Legion <br /> <br />The Hugo American Legion would like to donate $2,100 to the Hugo Fire Department for <br />training and equipment. Donations to the Fire Department must be approved by Council. Staff <br />recommends Council approve the donation of$2,100 to the Hugo Fire Department from the Hugo <br />American Legion. <br /> <br />G.8 Approve Authorization to Advertise for Dust Control <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization from the City Council to advertise for bids for the City's 2021 <br />gravel road dust control project. The City of Hugo currently applies dust control to <br />approximately 28 miles of gravel roads located within its municipal boundaries. Following City <br />Council approval, staff will advertise and solicit bids through the City newspaper and will hold a <br />bid opening in early April. This will be followed by the Council considering bids in April. The <br />dust control/stabilization would be applied in two separate applications, once in mid -May and <br />again in early to mid -August. Staff recommends approval to advertise for bids for the City's <br />2021 gravel road dust control project. <br /> <br />G.9 Approve Hiring of Chuck Preisler as Temporary Building Inspector <br /> <br />Staff has been meeting with former Building Official Chuck Preisler on the possibility of <br />working part-time on an as needed basis in the Building Department to assist with plan review <br />and inspection duties. The Building Department is expected to be busy again this year. Staff is <br />requesting the City Council approve the hiring of Chuck Preisler as a part-time building
