<br />Job Description <br /> <br />Position Title: Parks Planner <br />Department: Community Development <br />Immediate Supervisor’s Title: <br />Community Development Director <br />Pay Grade: 7 <br />Salary Range: $65,700 to $85,591 <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br />Serves as a Parks Planner with primary responsibilities to facilitate the implementation of the <br />City’s Parks Master Plan, carry out parks policies and recreation programming activities as <br />determined by the Parks Commission and City Council. The position will assist in the planning <br />and development of the City’s parks system and trails network, and coordinate and organize <br />youth and adult recreational activities. Works outside normal hours regularly and as needed to <br />attend meetings, host events, and supervise recreation programming operations. <br /> <br />ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS <br />Reports to: Community Development Director, City Council and Parks and Open Space <br />Commission <br /> <br />Communicates with: Internally - Other administrative staff including department heads, <br />Building Official, Public Works Director, City contract staff, police and fire departments. <br />Externally - neighboring cities, businesses and community organizations, various <br />vendors/suppliers, area school districts, athletic associations, developers, design professionals, <br />contractors, vendors, and City residents. <br /> <br />Supervises: Coordinates part-time employees and recreational programing staff as needed. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS <br /> Provides staff support for the Parks Commission: Attends all Parks Commission <br />meetings, prepares agendas, arranges for the production of minutes, prepares staff <br />reports and background materials, formally presents information, and answers <br />questions. <br /> Facilitates the implementation of the Parks Master Plan, as directed: Reviews <br />development applications, meets with developers when necessary, arranges for the <br />acquisition of parkland where required, ensures the collection of parkland dedication <br />fees, facilitates the acquisition of land and easements for trails. <br /> Reviews the Parks Master Plan, the Parks CIP, and approved parks policies as required, <br />and makes recommendations to the Parks Commission regarding applications for <br />compliance with the relevant plans and policies. <br /> Assists in the administration of the Parks CIP: Assists with the planning, design, <br />bidding and construction of improvements related to all parks and trails facilities.
