Parks Planner Job Description <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> Collaborates and communicates regularly with the Public Works Department on the <br />Parks Plan, Parks CIP, park improvements and maintenance, and other parks and trails <br />related topics. <br /> Arranges neighborhood meetings, facilitates discussion, and gathers community input <br />regarding the development of parks in the City. <br /> Participates and plays a lead role in various Parks and Recreation related sub- <br />committees. <br /> Undertakes or coordinates the scheduling or operation of the Hanifl Fields Athletic <br />Park, the Hanifl Concession Building, the Oneka School Gymnasium, and other park <br />pavilions, facilities, etc. <br /> Ensures policies and procedures are followed for scheduled activities. <br /> Monitors facilities and grounds to ensure they are prepared for scheduled events. <br /> Schedules, organizes, and coordinates all activities related to City sponsored recreation <br />programs. <br /> Works with school districts, athletic associations, and other relevant organizations <br />related to recreation programming. Integrates City programming to compliment other <br />existing programming. <br /> Develops, organizes specific activities, reserves equipment, coordinates registration, <br />and all other activities related to the City’s recreation program. <br /> Creates and manages the City’s Health and Wellness Program, as directed <br /> Serves as City representative to the White Bear Lake Area Schools Community <br />Recreation Advisory Committee <br /> Coordinates Scout volunteer projects <br /> Actively markets and promotes parks and recreation opportunities. <br /> Updates parks and trails maps. <br /> Updates Parks and Recreation information on City’s website. <br /> Responds to citizen inquiries and concerns regarding all parks and recreation related <br />items <br /> May act as a liaison and City representative with adjacent communities, and <br />metropolitan, and state organizations where interests of the City of Hugo are involved. <br /> Keeps abreast of current trends, events and issues concerning parks planning and <br />recreation programming, and informs the Community Development Director of <br />significant matters to ensure proper and effective administration of the division. <br /> Performs other duties as assigned. <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES <br /> Considerable ability to gather and evaluate data, perform mathematical calculations, <br />analyze complex information, use resources, and develop alternatives. <br /> Considerable ability to prepare clear and concise reports in written and graphic form. <br /> Considerable ability to operate normal office equipment including a personal computer <br />with network access and word processing. <br /> Considerable ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both orally and in <br />writing, including making public presentations. <br /> Considerable ability to hear and speak when conversing in person or by phone. <br /> Considerable ability to see and read computer screens and documents.
