FINAL DELIVERABLE : HSHC 14
Minnesota Historical Society for funds from the Legacy Amendment. The position of the schoolhouse on
a trail system and its classification as a Design 3C schoolhouse with no other examples in the county can
strengthen the organization's petition for grant funding.
In addition to the legacy funds, there are some other resources to be explored. On its website, the
Minnesota Historical Society includes a list of professional organizations it recommends local
organizations to join to receive more support. Two noted organizations listed are the Minnesota Alliance
of Local History Museums and the Minnesota Association of Museums. Both organizations work with
Minnesota museums to support smaller organizations and provide education and training for staff and
volunteers. Another avenue of support to explore is the Institute of Museum and Library Services
Museums for America program. This program works to support museums of all sizes through strategic
support and grants ranging in value from $5000 to $250,000.
