Site Planning | 11
OVERVIEW
Creative site planning and quality architecture are crucial to avoiding monotony. This document
discusses various design elements that should be addressed in all new developments, including
setbacks, massing, and architectural styles. Using variation in design will avoid the appearance of
barracks during development.
The standards below will help you create a site plan that enhances Hugo’s character and drives a
creative direction for any site. While each project will have a unique and distinctive character, these
site planning elements will help ensure cohesion across the City to help people know they are in
Hugo. Transitions from proposed to existing developments should be provided to minimize the impact
on adjacent parcels by placing lower-height buildings near property lines with low-density use.
SITE PLANNING
The site should be recognizable and cohesive such as Jacks Pines Place development shown above.
The site plan should show a unified neighborhood and development through building placement and spacing.
