City Council meeting of March 19, 1990 <br />Page _ <br />APPOINTMENT OF FIREFIGHTERS <br />Following the interview of potential firefighter candidates by the City <br />Administrator and Fire Chief, the City staff is recommending the <br />appointment of Mr. Greg Burmeister and Mr. Jeff Wenzel to the Hugo <br />Volunteer Fire Department effective March 19, 1990. <br />Atkinson made motion, Vail seconded, the appointment of Mr. Greg <br />Burmeister and Mr. Jeff Wenzel to the Hugo Volunteer Fire Department <br />effective March 19, 1990. These appointments are subject to completion of <br />the required probationary period and attendance at drills and meetings as <br />per departmental policy. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PURCHASE OF APPLICATION SOFTWARE <br />The City's Finance Director, Ron Otk-in, has recommended the purchase of a <br />computer software package that involves utility billing, an account's <br />payable package, and a general ledger package. Total cost of the software <br />is $5,350.00 which has been budgeted for in 1990. This package was <br />selected by the Finance Director after considerable research of the <br />various programs available, and the success that other Minnesota <br />communities have had with these software programs. <br />Olson made motion, Jesinski seconded, authorizing the purchase of a <br />computer software package involving utility billing, an account's payable <br />package, and a general ledger package, from Micro Arizola Systems, at a <br />cost of approximately $5,Z50.00. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FEASIBILITY REPORT <br />The City Council received a copy of the required resolution ordering the <br />feasibility report for the Elmcrest Avenue improvement project, proposed <br />with the City of Lino Lakes, for their review. Mr. Dan Boxrud of Short, <br />Elliot, and Hendrickson has been authorized by the City of Lino Lakes to <br />proceed with the feasibility report, and the Hugo City Council has <br />indicated an interest in not duplicating the engineering services for this <br />project. This matter has been discussed with the City Engineer, Howard <br />K:uusisto, and he has no objection to the City using this approach under <br />the current circumstances. <br />ELMC:REST AVENUE LETTER; OF INTENT (LINO LAE::ES i <br />The City Council received a copy of the Letter of Intent committing the <br />City to participate in the cost of preparing the formal feasibility study <br />for the Elmcrest Avenue road improvement project. Total estimated cost or <br />the project, prior to the feasibility study, was $7- *0,000. 0. <br />Because of Councilman McAl l ister' s request that some kind of "cap" be <br />placed on the cost of the feasibility study, and certain questions raise; -d <br />by the City Attorney with regard tcI the Resolution and the Letter of <br />Intent:., the following moti(.-)n was made: <br />
