City Council meeting of October 1, 1990
Page 4
will lapse, and it is our understanding that Mr. Nicholson has no
intention of building the cul-de-sac in question. The cul-de—sac provide
road access to two lots, one of which has a home under construction. The
City staff is requesting Council authorization to receive quotations from
private contractors to construct this road cul-de-sac yet this fall if the
work is not done by Mr. Nicholson in mid-October.
Atkinson made motion, McAllister seconded, that the City Council
authorizes the City staff to receive quotations from private contractors
to construct the road cul-de-sac to satisfy the condition approval of
Howard Nicholson's subdivision on 125th Street, east of Fiona. This
project is to be paid from the developer's financial deposit.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Councilman McAllister directed City staff to send a copy of the above
motion, by certified mail, to Mr' Howard Nicholson.
AUTHORIZE TOPOGRAPHIC_MAPPING
The City staff and City Engineer have been discussing our needs for
advance work necessary in preparation of our water management study in
1991 with the Washington County Surveyor's Office, as well as the RCWD.
In light of the fact that Washington County is planning to fly new aerial
photos of the county in April, 1991, City staff feels it may be an
appropriate time to begin preparation of topographic maps for the City.
Based on estimates provided by Mark Hurd, Inc., it would cost the City a
minimum of $5.00 per acre ($115,000) to map the entire City. There are a
number of things the City will have to do prior to aerial photos being
taken in April, that will benefit the City in establishing vertical and
horizontal elevations for the mapping. City staff is anticipating that
the major cost to prepare the water management study will be identifying
ditches, wetlands, ponds, and other areas tributary to the various
watersheds. Not only will the topographic maps be necessary for the water
management plan, they will be extremely valuable in reviewing development
proposals and subdivisions as the community continues to develop. City
staff is recommending that the City Council direct the City Engineer and
City Administrator to begin prepatory work for the water management study,
and authorize preparation of the topographic maps for the community,
within the budget for the required study.
Atkinson made motion, Olson seconded, that the City Council authorizes the
City Engineer and City Administrator to begin preparatory work for the
water management study, and authorizes preparation of the topographic maps
for the community, within the budget for the required study.
All aye. Motion Carried.
As per Council direction, the City staff has prepared the appropriate
resolution for ordering the installation of the traffic and safety signs
as recommended by MNDOT and the Washington Sheriff's Dept.
