City Council meeting of November 5, 1990
Page
Ingersoll Avenue than the principal building. The pole building is to be
used for the storage of personal property, and there will be no commercia
or industrial use of the building. The property in question is zoned RR2,
and consists of approximately 7 acres. The proposed improvement is on a
lot which has lakeshore on Round Lake, however, the building in question
meets all of the required shoreland setback requirements. Currently,
there is a home and an unattached garage located at the north end of Lot
3, Block 1, Arcand Estates. The proposed building meets all front and
side yard setbacks, but does not conform to that section of the code which
requires no garage or accessory building to be located between the house
and thelroad. The City Council has, typically, granted variances of this
nature in areas where the lots exceeded three acres in size, and meet all
other setback:: requirements. The Board of Zoning Adjustments considered
this matter at their meeting of October 24, 1990, and recommended approval
of this variance request.
McAllister made motion, Jesinski seconded, to approve the variance request
of Therman Creager, 12203 Ingersoll Avenue North (Lot 3, Bloch; 1, Arcand
Estates), to construct a 24' x 60' pole building closer to Ingersoll
Avenue than the principal building. The pole building will be used for
residential purposes only.
All aye. Motion Carried.
SIGN PERMIT (KENCO/WAUGH)
On behalf of Mr. Mike Finnemann, the Kenco Construction Co. has made
application to the City of Hugo to install a temporary 4' X 8' sign on the
southeast corner of Highway 61 and County Rd. 8A, and will be directional
in nature. The property in question is zoned RB with total acreage of
9.45 acres. The sign is to be setback 32' from the north property line
and 32' from the west property line. Earlier this fall, the Kenco
Construction requested a temporary permit for the installation of this
sign. That request for a temporary permit was denied by the City Council,
indicating that the necessary public hearings should be held, and this
type of request must be reviewed by the Planning Commission. The sign was
installed anyway. The Hugo Planning Commission considered this request at
their meeting of 10/24/90, and unanimously recommended approval of the
SUP, subject to special conditions.
Vail made motion, Olson seconded, to approve the application of Kenco
Construction for a Special Use Permit to install a temporary 4' x 8' sign
on the southeast corner of Highway 61 and County Road BA. Approval is
subject to the following special conditions:
1. The sign be classified as temporary, and this permit expire no later
than December 1st, 1992.
2. The sign be unlighted and be aesthetically pleasing at all times.
... The sign be installed in such a manner so as to not obstruct
visibility at the intersection near this sign.
4. No additional signs be installed on the site in question.
5. Written permission shall be provided from the property owner.
6. Applicant to pay double fees for application and permit to
constructing said sign prior to City Council approval.
All aye. Motion Carried.
