Motion Carried.
8.B Firemen's Pension Increase Reouest
The Hugo Firemen's Relief Association has formally requested Council
consideration of an increase in their pension from $400.00 per year of
service to $500.00 per year of service. In 1986, the association
requested an increase from $300.00 per year of service to $500.00 per year
of service. On January 1, 1987, the city implemented an increase to
$400.00 per year of service with a commitment that the City Council would
consider an increase to $500.00 effective January 1, 1988. The Relief
Association submitted a financial review and a report from the
association's auditors regarding their financial position. Based on a
pension increase to $500.00 per year of active service, they are
projecting an accrued liability, through 1988, of $93,234.00. They are
projecting assets as of December 31, 1987 at $95,486.00. The accrued
liability projected is that of active members, deferred members, and early
vested members. The projected association income for 1988 is based on
receiving approximately $7,900.00 in Minnesota state aid, and earning 5%
interest on their projected assets of $95,486.00. The auditor's
projection reflects no need for tax support of the fund in 1988.
Vail made motion, Peltier seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 1987-46, A
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZED AN INCREASE IN RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR THE CITY OF
HUGO FIREMEN'S RELIEF ASSOCATION FROM $400.00 PER YEAR OF SERVICE TO
$500.00 PER YEAR OF SERVICE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1988.
All aye. Motion Carried.
