January 21, 1986 <br />FIRE CHIEF <br />The City has received an application for appointment to the Fire Department from Mike <br />Nelson. Previously he had been a volunteer for 4 years, but has been on a leave of <br />absence. Fire Chief, Ron Istvanovich, stated that he had been an active member, and <br />would recommend his reappointment. <br />MOTION: Potts made motion, Schwab seconded, to approve the appointment of Mike <br />Nelson to the Hugo Fire Department. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />There was further discussion relating to the ambulance service provided by District <br />Memorial Hospital, and a recent article in the Forest Lake Times. <br />MOTION: McAllister made motion, Hauer seconded, to send a letter to John Jergens, <br />1st District Commissioner, asking that he discuss matters with the Hugo <br />City Council before making any recommendations for the City of Hugo. <br />VO'T'ING FOR: Hauer, Schwab, McAllister <br />ABSTAINED: Potts (did not read article) <br />Motion Carried. <br />ADDI`1'IONAL REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS <br />MOTION: McAllister made motion, Schwab seconded, to schedule an additional regular <br />Council meeting for February 3, at 6:15 PM, to hear a presentation from <br />Dr. Gary Mayer regarding the hepatitis inoculation program, and any other <br />appropriate city business. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />MOTION: McAllister made motion, Schwab seconded, to schedule an additional regular <br />Council meeting for March 3, at 6:15 PM, to discuss the 1985 audit with <br />the City's auditors, and any other appropriate city business. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />MOTION: Potts made motion, Schwab seconded, to pay the Washington County Planning <br />Department $3215.00 for work performed on the city's Comprehensive Plan. <br />Ail aye. Motion Carried. <br />5.4 Wally Otto - 8:00 PM <br />The city's Building Inspector notified the Counil that he had observed a newly con- <br />structed building on the Walter Otto property, 13624 Isleton Avenue, and that no <br />Site Plan had been approved or Building Permit applied for. For the record, Mr. Otto, <br />present at the meeting, was informed that all meetings are tape recorded. Mr. Otto <br />stated he was denied a permit in 1981 because he did not own recently purchased <br />property (15 acres). He stated that the land is now paid for. He acknowledged that <br />he has constructed a 54 x 90 pole building, but did not feel a building permit was <br />
