47
June 4, 1984
6.0 REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMIllIES
6.1 Ordinance Committee - No discussion
6.2 Planning Commission - No discussion
6.3 Building Inspector
Mr. Crever submitted his monthly report.
The city received a letter frau Robert Olson, 12980 Ingersoll Avenue, regarding the
raising of cattle by his neighbor, Lloyd Sathre. A SUP is needed to raise cattle
in the RR2 zone. Mr. Olson commented on the debris dumped along Sathre's driveway.
MOTION: McAllister made motion, Schwab seconded, that the City Clerk notify, by cer-
tified mail, Lloyd and Tom Sathre, asking them to appear at the next City
Council meeting (6/18/84) at 7:45 PM to comment on the complaints regarding
the keeping of non-domestic animals without a SUP in the RR2 zone, and the
litter situation existing on his property.
All aye. Motion Carried.
6.4 Fire Chief
The Fire Chief stated that a new regulation has been handed down from OSHA that there
is to be no more riding on the tailboard on emergency vehicles. The situation could
continue provided a cage was constructed to hold the fireman. The chief was not in
favor that action because of the possibility of being trapped on the truck. Mayor
McAllister stated that the volunteers will have to use the big pumper and rescue truck
as a personnel carrier. McAllister approved the chief to informally investigate the
cost to purchase another vehicle. It was the concensus of the City Council that the
Hugo Fire and Rescue Department comply with OSHA's regulation.
The chief submitted a proposal for replacement of the large, overhead doors in the
fiza hall. The clerk was instructed to obtain other bids, specifically addressing
warranty, price, and insulating factor.
The chief suggested the Civil Defense Director investigated the possibility of obtaining
grant money for the purchase of warning sirens. It was his opinion that the city
needed 2 or 3 more sirens, at a cost of $8,000.00/each, completely installed. The
Mayor felt this was a low_priority item.
6.5 Clerk
MOTION: McAllister made motion, Schwab seconded, that the Clerk's office schedule
a computer seminar with the city auditor, at a cost not to exceed $300.00.
All aye.
