Schletty seconded. Those in favor, Smith & Schletty. Those opposed LaValle, Leroux, Lease. Motion Failed. LaValle made motion to approve Ray Houles Minor Subdivision & Variance subject to the conditions listed with the exception that the Percolation test be taken by a professional independent firm. Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. Frank Graham, representing N.S.P. , discussed the electrical rate contract and revenue rate increase effective in February. Attorney Johnson hoped to have further information by the January 20 meeting. Letters had been received from the Forest Lake Times and the White Bear Press asking to be designated official newspapers for Hugo. Mayor Lease pointed out that both newspapers are fine newspapers and have been pleased with each newspaper and suggested a possible alternate each year. Smith made motion, seconded by LaValle to designate the Forest Lake Times as official legal newspaper for Hugo. Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith for. Motion Carried. Motion made by Lease and seconded, that the First State Bank of Hugo, the First State Bank of Forest Lake and the First National Bank of Stillwater IIIbe designated as the official depositories for the City of Hugo, Motion Carried. Mayor Lease appointed Marvin LaValle to be acting mayor for the year 1975 which he accepted. Lease made motion to refund the deposit for Pipe Line Company of $2,500.00. Smith seconded. Motion Carried. Lease made motion that the Police Chief salary be increased from $800.00 per month to $1 ,000.00 per month. Smith seconded. Motion Carried. Lease made motion that the Clerks salary be increased from $300.00 a month to $350.00 per month. Smith seconded. Motion Carried. Clerk Burkard announced that he would be serving his final year as Clerk in 1975. Leroux made motion to increase the Meter Reader salary from $2.50 per hour to $3.50 per hour. LaValle seconded. Motion Carried. Lease made motion to increase the City Treasuruer salary from $700.00 per year to $1 ,000.00 per year. LaValle seconded. Motion Carried. Lease made motion the Marie Jansen salary (Clerical) be increased from $2.50 per hour to $3.00 per hour. Leroux seconded. Motion Carried. All Clerical help wage set at $3.00 per hour. Smith made motion to appoint Theodora Peltier to fill one of the vacancies on the Planning Commission. Schletty seconded. Schletty, Smith, Leroux and Lease for. Those Oppose LaValle. Motion Carried.
