� �� �� <br /> 1[(��� � <br /> � <br /> SECTION 5. ALTERNATIVE SYSTEMS <br /> � . <br /> 501 . Applicability. <br /> 501 .01 . Replacement of existing systems. Except as provided by <br /> Section 501 .02 and 501 .03, on previously developed sites where system <br /> replacement is required by virtue of existing System failure and <br /> where site and soil conditions do not permit installatin of a <br /> Standard System, an alternative system as provided by this section <br /> may be considered subject to the following conditions: <br /> (1 ) The engineering design and substantiation of <br /> perfomnance of proposed system shall be submitted for <br /> approval ' <br /> (2) There shall be no discharge allowed to the ground <br /> surface or surface waters. <br /> (3) Method of treatment and disposal of wastes shall <br /> provide protection to the public health and general ' <br /> welfare equal to that provided by a -Standard System. <br /> (4) Proposed alternative systems shall be required to <br /> comply with all state rules and standards. <br /> (5) City reserves the right to require financial security <br /> to assume adequate performance of system. <br /> 501 .02. Modified standard system. On any site, where soil <br /> conditions may reasonably be altered by placing fill to provide <br /> suitable conditions as required for a Standard System, a modified <br /> Standard System may ,be considered subject to the following <br /> conditions: <br /> ( 1 ) Soil and site conditions shall be evaluated and system <br /> sized and located as prescribed by this Ordinance for a <br /> standard system. <br /> (2) Modified soil areas shall be adequate in size to <br /> accommodate a minimum of two (2) complete systems. On <br /> specific sites, area requirements may be increased when <br /> appropriate under the long range sewer plan for the <br /> location . <br /> (3) Proposed fill projects shall require engineered design <br /> to be submitted for review and approval by the <br /> permitting authority prior to the start of work , and <br /> the issuance of a grading permit as required by the <br /> Zoning Ordinance. - <br /> (4 ) Fill material shall be selected and placed under � | <br /> competent supervision ' <br /> ( 5) Existing soils shall be protected from compaction and <br /> properly prepared by scarifying or plowing , prior to <br /> placement of fill . <br /> 27 � <br /> -A� <br />
