AUGUST 2, 1976 G 1
6.0 REPORTS OF OFFICERS & COMMITTEES o
6.1 Ordinance Committee
6.1 .1 Sanitary Sewer Disposal Ordinance — Attorney willtry to have
ready for the next meeting. LaValle questioned whether people may
pay their SAC charge, apply for permit for hook—up and thus avoid
the late penalty -if unable to get installed before the September
1st deadline. Council agreed.
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Schletty, to adopt the
following: If the SAC charge is paid and permit pulled
prior to September 1 , 1976, a penalty charge will be avoid—
ed, however sewer usage will be billed beginning 9/1/76.
VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith.
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Schletty, that the sewer
hook—up for the Post Office, across the City property be
paid for entirely by the benefited property; that is the
owner of the Post Office.
VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith.
MOTION CARRIED
6.2 Planning Commission
Irene Leroux reported that the Planning Commission is still short
one member — haven't been able to find anyone interested in the
position.
6.3 Water Superintendent
Written reported submitted. Questioned whether the Sewer fees being
collected pay for the expenses involved. Lease said the matter would
require further study. Instructed Engineer to investigate the matter.
6.4 Sewer Committee
No report.
6.5 Building Inspector
Submitted report — reported Burdick is advertising for body shop
work — this would not be covered by his grandfather clause, as he
is not allowed to intensify his business. LaValle agreed saying it
is one thing to fix dents in cars he plans on selling, and another
to advertise for business.
Building inspector also reported he has informed James Smith it is
necessary for him to either apply for a building permit or a farm
site approval for the 11 x 32' pole shed he has moved onto his
property. Smith contends he needs neither. City Attorney asked to
study the matter. Morris Jesperson, who owns about twelve acres on
Highway 61 at 125th Street appeared with request for site plan
approval for building which he plans to build to house machinery
needed to farm the land. Mr. Jesperson does not live in the area;
there is no principal building, or home on the site. Building in—
spector refused him building permit without first obtaining Council
approval.
MOTION: Lease made motion, seconded by LaValle, to grant site plan
approval to Morris Jesperson, at Hwy. 61 and 125th Street,
subject to an 88 foot setback.
VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith.
MOTION CARRIED
6.6 Fire Chief
Fire Chief reported Forest Lake Fire Department has requested Hugo
Fire Department to take over one ambulance for the Forest Lake
Hospital — doesn't feel too many firemen are interested in taking
on the responsibility — too little manpower. Fire Chief instructed
to inform them the Hugo Fire Department is not in a position where
they could handle it and thank them for the offer. Chief Olson
asked for OK to have micro lock brakes put on the rescue squad truck
for an estimated $75.00.
