co MOTION: Lease made motion, seconded by Smith, to approve the pur- <br /> v chase of Micro-Lock brakes for the rescue squad truck, <br /> after ascertaining through the City Clerk that the Fire <br /> Department budget is sufficient to finance it. <br /> VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith. <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> Fire Chief reported that first aid supplies ordered for the Fire <br /> Department totaled $800.00. Supplies were very low and needed <br /> up-dating; however after careful consideration, some of the order <br /> was returned making a net cost of $461 .21 . Olson instructed to <br /> submit bill to City Clerk. <br /> Schletty asked if there are any vacancies on the fire department. <br /> Chief said there is one vacancy now and they are taking applications. <br /> Applicants must be over the age of eighteen and under the age of 45, <br /> live within one mile of the fire hall and be a resident of Hugo <br /> for at least six months. <br /> 6.7 Police Chief <br /> MOTION: Lease made motion, seconded by Leroux, to accept the <br /> Police Department report. <br /> VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith. <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> 6.8 Attorney <br /> Horton - lawsuit has been dismissed. LaValle - Bayless - City of <br /> Hugo - appeal to the Supreme Court given an extension until the <br /> end of August - City's request for dismissal has been denied. Biesang - <br /> terms of a road maintenance agreement have to be worked out with <br /> Grant Township and Title has to be verified before road can be con- <br /> sidered for acceptance. Bald Eagle Industrial Park - drainage ease- <br /> ments have not been obtained yet. Shepherd of the Fields - deed <br /> now acceptable - has been checked by survey. Mary Ouimet - LaValle <br /> questioned status of settlement for fallen tree. Attorney stated <br /> she is asking Hoffman, the sewer contractor for $900.00 or a rea- <br /> sonable settlement. Hoffman has turned over request to his insur- <br /> ance company; Attorney said city cannot intervene. Attorney instruct- <br /> ed to contact the insurance company to ascertain status of the claim. <br /> 6.9 Engineer <br /> Still trying to obtain costs for Everton, Elmcrest and Europa - <br /> trying to get Shafer Contracting Company to complete their survey. <br /> At this time, no reply has been made and don't know if their investi- <br /> gation is completed. HUD GRANT - will find out what is holding that <br /> up. Dust Control - had only five applicants - program must be aband- <br /> oned. Sunset Lake - Still waiting for estimate from Twin City Testing <br /> Company. <br /> RECESS - 10:10 P.M. - RECONVENE - 10:25 P.M. <br /> 7.0 CLERK <br /> MOTION: Lease made motion, seconded by Smith, to approve North- <br /> western Bell Telephone Company Job Order #34177 for buried <br /> cable at three single crossings at 177th Street, east of <br /> Hwy. 61 . <br /> VOTING FOR: Lease, LaValle, Leroux, Schletty and Smith. <br /> MOTION CARRIED <br /> Clerk presented proposal from Frank Graham of NSP to replace the <br /> city's lighting system at no extra cost to the city. Changes would <br /> result in less wattage used with more illumination. <br />
