the Board review the list of statements and provide direction towards the drafting of a new <br />statement. <br />The Board gave Staff specific direction regarding the wording of a potential purpose <br />statement. The draft purpose statement should include elements relating to the: retention, <br />expansion, and attraction of businesses, the diversification of the tax base, and the <br />unification of the community. <br />Miron made motion, Klein Seconded to table this agenda item to allow staff to compose a <br />draft purpose statement for Board Review. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />D.3 SCHEDULE 2005 GOAL SETTING WORKSHOP <br />The EDA expressed its desire to develop a list of goals and objectives, at the October 26, <br />2004 meeting. City Staff is requesting that the Board schedule a 2005 Goals setting <br />workshop to coincide with the Council's workshop. This workshop would provide the <br />board with the ability to brainstorm a list of goals, which could then be presented to the <br />Council during the annual City Council goal -setting meeting. A copy of the 2004 City <br />Goals has been provided for reference. Staff recommends the Board schedule a date and <br />time for a workshop. <br />The Board directed Staff to prepare a list of potential goals for a formal goal setting <br />session to be held during the December 20, 2004 EDA meeting. Staff requested that Board <br />members submit potential goals in preparation of the goal setting session. <br />The Board also requested that Staff provide agenda packets by the second Wednesday of <br />the month. <br />Bever made motion, Klein seconded to schedule a goal setting workshop during the regular <br />EDA meeting for December 20, 2004. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />DA WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />PROGRAM <br />At it's last meeting Community Development Director informed the Board about the <br />opportunities available through the Washington County Community Block Grant (CDBG) <br />program. Washington County held an informational meeting on the CDBG program on <br />November 7, 2004. Commissioners Arcand, and Klein, and staff members Bear and <br />Denaway attended this meeting. Staff would like to use this opportunity to provide the <br />Board with a report on the meeting. <br />
