Continued from Pagel: Water Re -Use Not only does this project ease the burden on the aquifer, it also reduces the amount of phosphorus that enters Bald Eagle Lake. By reusing and treating stormwater, we are keeping excess nutrients, such as phosphorous, out of Bald Eagle Lake. According to the Rice Creek Watershed District, "conservative esti- mates suggest 75 pounds of phosphorous will be kept out of the lake each year, depending upon rainfall, as a result of this project. 75 pounds of phosphorus can grow between 12 and 18 tons of algae." This project represents another step in accomplishing the City of Hugo's goal to Reduce, Reuse, and Replenish.
